St James-the-Less on St James's Avenue in Bethnal Green is a Church of England parish in the heart of the East End. Designed by G.E. Street and consecrated in 1861, it is one of the finest High Victorian Gothic churches in London and a Grade I listed building. Its distinctive striped brick and polychrome interior set a standard for Victorian church architecture that was widely imitated.
