# Woodhead Chapel

Woodhead Chapel near Crowden, Glossop (formerly St James Woodhead) is a restored nonprofit community venue. Its trustees say the building reopened in December 2023 and hosts community events, with Spring and Harvest Festival services each year rather than a published weekly worship schedule.

## History and current use

St James Woodhead was Church of England until 1988, then an independent evangelical church until it closed in 2017. Volunteers began restoring the building in 2021, and the trustees of Woodhead Chapel took over its operation. It reopened in December 2023 as a nonprofit community resource. These are former affiliations, not a current denomination.

Events and activities: Yoga, sound baths, meditation, live music, talks, exhibitions, wellbeing events, brass band Christmas carol concerts, wedding or partnership blessings, and Spring and Harvest Festival services.
