St Mary le Strand is an elegant Baroque church designed by James Gibbs and built between 1714 and 1717. It stands on an island in the middle of the Strand, one of London's most historic thoroughfares. A Grade I listed building, it was the first church erected under the Commission for Building Fifty New Churches Act and is regarded as one of Gibbs's finest works.
