St Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh, is the Church of Ireland cathedral and the seat of the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland — the senior bishop of the Church of Ireland. It stands on the hill at the centre of Armagh that is traditionally identified as the place where St Patrick founded his principal stone church in AD 445, making it one of the oldest sites of Christian worship in Ireland. The present Gothic cathedral is medieval in origin and was extensively restored in the 1830s. It is one of two cathedrals dedicated to St Patrick in the city, the other belonging to the Roman Catholic Church. Worship follows the Book of Common Prayer in the Anglican tradition, and the cathedral is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
