## About

St Winefride's Well in Holywell (Treffynnon) has been a place of Christian pilgrimage for over 1,300 years and is often called the oldest continually visited pilgrimage site in Britain. The spring is associated with the 7th-century Welsh saint Winefride (Gwenffrewi), and the vaulted late-15th-century chapel built over the well under Lady Margaret Beaufort is the only shrine in Britain to have survived the Reformation. Pilgrims still come to bathe in the waters and to venerate the saint's relic. The shrine, in the care of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wrexham, welcomes visitors of every background.
