About Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary, the Virgin of Worcester

Worcester Cathedral, properly the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary the Virgin, is one of England's great Norman cathedrals, founded as a monastery in 680 and rebuilt by St Wulstan from 1084. It stands magnificently on a bluff above the River Severn. The cathedral is the burial place of King John (1216) and Prince Arthur Tudor (1502), Henry VIII's elder brother whose chantry chapel is one of the finest of its kind in England. Worcester is one of the three cathedrals (with Hereford and Gloucester) that hosts the historic Three Choirs Festival.
