About Clifton Cathedral
Clifton Cathedral, properly the Cathedral Church of SS Peter and Paul, is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton covering Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Consecrated in 1973, it is one of the most architecturally significant post-war Catholic buildings in Britain — an austere, hexagonal modernist design in pre-cast concrete, now Grade II* listed. The cathedral seats a congregation around a central altar and is celebrated for its outstanding acoustics.
