About Lancaster Cathedral
Lancaster Cathedral, the Cathedral Church of St Peter, is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lancaster covering Cumbria and north Lancashire. Designed by E.G. Paley and opened in 1859, it is a fine example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture. As a working cathedral parish, daily Mass is celebrated and the cathedral is home to the Bishop of Lancaster.
