About Ripon Cathedral
Ripon Cathedral, dedicated to St Peter and St Wilfrid, traces its foundation to AD 672 when St Wilfrid built a stone church here and Ripon became one of the earliest centres of Christianity in northern England. The famous Saxon crypt beneath the cathedral survives intact and is the oldest built fabric of any cathedral in England. Today the cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Leeds and offers daily Anglican worship in the Diocese of Leeds.

What is worship in this tradition usually like?
Anglican (Church of England) worship follows the rhythm of the Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship. Sunday services often range from a said early-morning Holy Communion to a main mid-morning Sung Eucharist or Morning Prayer, and many parishes hold Choral Evensong later in the day. Services blend set liturgy, hymns, Scripture readings and a sermon. Everyone is welcome, whether you are exploring faith or returning to church.
