About St John's, Smith Square
St John's, Smith Square is one of the most extraordinary Baroque churches in England, built between 1713 and 1728 to designs by Thomas Archer as one of the 'Queen Anne Churches'. Gutted by an incendiary bomb in 1941, it was restored and since 1965 has served as one of London's finest concert halls — today the home of Sinfonia Smith Square.
