About St Mary Abbots

St Mary Abbots is the parish church of Kensington, with origins as a chapel belonging to Abingdon Abbey in the 12th century. The current building was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1872. Its spire — at 278 feet — is one of the tallest in London, and the church serves a large and diverse parish in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

What is worship in this tradition usually like?

Anglican (Church of England) worship follows the rhythm of the Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship. Sunday services often range from a said early-morning Holy Communion to a main mid-morning Sung Eucharist or Morning Prayer, and many parishes hold Choral Evensong later in the day. Services blend set liturgy, hymns, Scripture readings and a sermon. Everyone is welcome, whether you are exploring faith or returning to church.

This describes the wider tradition. The format at this particular church may vary.
