About St Theresa's Church

St Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral on York Place in Edinburgh is the mother church of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, the senior Catholic diocese in Scotland. The cathedral was opened in 1814, making it one of the earliest Catholic churches to open publicly in Scotland after centuries of legal prohibition. A Grade A listed building, it serves the Catholic community of Edinburgh and the Lothians.

What is worship in this tradition usually like?

Roman Catholic worship centres on the Mass, the celebration of the Eucharist. A typical Mass includes readings from Scripture, a homily, the Liturgy of the Eucharist and Holy Communion, and usually lasts around an hour. Most parishes offer a Saturday evening Vigil Mass as well as Sunday morning Masses, along with regular opportunities for confession (reconciliation). Visitors of any background are welcome to attend.

This describes the wider tradition. The format at this particular church may vary.
